Bridal Lingerie

When you first start to plan your wedding you may go straight to thinking about the venue, the dress, or how you are going to wear your hair and what you will actually be wearing underneath the dress is often overlooked. However, your bridal lingerie is actually a key element of your big day as having the correct underwear to suit the dress will show you off to your best and most importantly, make you feel fabulous.

It is very important that your lingerie is not left to the last minute, you should make sure that you try it on underneath the dress to ensure it fits correctly and does not make the dress bulky or show through. If possible it is actually worth considering selecting your underwear before you begin to have the dress made which will allow for a perfect fit.

Styles of underwear worth considering are generally those that will hold you in and give you a good shape and definition under your dress. If you intend to wear a strapless dress then you will of course need a strapless bra that will support you well, or possibly even a basque or corset. Basques are particularly well suited to bridal lingerie as they will give you a cleaner line and are a longer length then just a bra and as they are boned will offer you great support and comfort. However you have to remember to choose something that is not too fussy so that it will not show through your dress and also a colour in keeping with that of your outfit.

There is a wide variety of seamless underwear available from most retailers nowadays which means that you do not have to worry about it showing beneath as it ensures a completely smooth line. The only downside to this type of underwear is that you may not achieve as much shape as you would with a normal bra or basque and if you are of a larger size, may find that they do not offer as much support.

Now that you have your lingerie chosen for the ceremony itself, you can begin to look for something perhaps a little more fun and risqué for the evening or your honeymoon. If you are not very body confident then you may prefer something with a looser fit such as a baby doll, negligee or chemise which will skim over any troublesome areas. There is a wide array of bra and knicker sets available if you fancy something a little more traditional.

These come in a variety of luxurious fabrics such as silk or lace and a number of styles to suit any cup size. If you fancy something a little more different then why not try a corset, for many these are not your everyday type of underwear and this may be the perfect time to treat yourself to one. They are the prefect way to accentuate your curves and give you a perfect hourglass shape and look great on all figures.

So whatever type of bridal lingerie you choose for your big day, the most important piece of advice is to make sure that you plan ahead in advance.
